Clinical Director & Founder · South Texas Mental Health AssociatesDr. Megan Talley is the founder and Clinical Director of South Texas Mental Health Associates, a Flour Bluff native who built STMHA from the ground up with one goal: bringing expert psychiatric care back to the community she grew up in. Board-certified by the ABPN and recognized as a Top Doctor by The Bend Magazine, Dr. Talley was featured on KRIS 6 News for closing the mental health gap in the Coastal Bend.
She Came Back Home to Build Something Better
Dr. Megan Talley grew up on the Coastal Bend. She knows what it looks like when a community goes without adequate mental health resources, and she founded South Texas Mental Health Associates to change that. As Clinical Director and a founding member of STMHA, she built the practice from scratch with a clear vision: expert, compassionate psychiatric care that is actually accessible to the people of South Texas.
Dr. Talley is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and specializes in evidence-based medication management and trauma-informed psychiatric care. Her approach is integrative: she works closely with STMHA’s licensed therapists to create treatment plans that address the whole person, not just the diagnosis on the intake form. Whether a patient is managing anxiety for the first time or navigating a complex mood disorder, she takes the time to understand the full picture.
In 2023, KRIS 6 News featured Dr. Talley in a story about bringing world-class mental health care back to her hometown. She and Dr. Lusins were both recognized as Top Doctors by The Bend Magazine. These recognitions reflect something her patients already know: she built this practice because she cares, and she cares about every person who walks through the door.
Dr. Talley sees patients at all three STMHA locations, including Corpus Christi, San Antonio, and Edinburg. Telehealth appointments are available for patients throughout Texas.

Integrative Psychiatry Rooted in the Community
Dr. Talley built STMHA from the ground up. Her approach to care reflects both her clinical training and her deep connection to the South Texas communities she serves.
She Built This Practice
As STMHA’s founder and Clinical Director, Dr. Talley shaped every aspect of how the practice operates: the clinical standards, the intake process, the team culture, and the commitment to accepting patients regardless of what brought them here. This isn’t a franchise. It’s a practice built by someone who still works in it every day.
Trauma-Informed from the Start
Dr. Talley’s practice is built on the understanding that many mental health conditions are rooted in traumatic experience. She specializes in trauma-informed psychiatric care, which means her evaluation and treatment approach always considers how a patient’s history shapes their present symptoms.
Integrated, Collaborative Care
Dr. Talley doesn’t see psychiatry as an isolated service. She collaborates with STMHA’s licensed therapists so that each patient’s medication plan and therapy work together, rather than in parallel. For patients, this means a more coherent treatment experience and better outcomes over time.
Women’s Mental Health Focus
Dr. Talley has a particular interest in the mental health needs of women across the lifespan, including perinatal mental health, hormonal influences on mood disorders, and conditions that are commonly underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed in women such as ADHD and bipolar disorder.
A Flour Bluff Native Who Stayed
Dr. Talley grew up on the Coastal Bend. When she recognized that South Texas was underserved for psychiatric care, she came back and built the solution herself. That connection to place is not incidental to her practice. It is the reason the practice exists.
Telehealth Throughout Texas
Patients who cannot come in person can still see Dr. Talley through STMHA’s HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. Medication management follow-ups, psychiatric consultations, and care coordination are all available via secure video across Texas.
