Why Board Certification Matters for Your Care

When choosing a psychiatrist, board certification is one of the most reliable indicators of clinical training, accountability, and commitment to the field.

Rigorous National Examination

ABPN board certification requires passing comprehensive written and clinical examinations that verify mastery of psychiatric diagnosis, pharmacology, and treatment standards across the full spectrum of mental health conditions.

Accredited Residency Training

Board-certified psychiatrists complete a four-year, ACGME-accredited residency after medical school, with thousands of hours of supervised clinical experience across the full range of psychiatric presentations.

Ongoing Continuing Education

Certification is maintained through continuing medical education, ensuring our medical directors stay current with evolving research, new treatment modalities, and the latest psychiatric guidelines including TMS therapy and evidence-based psychopharmacology.

Direct Physician Oversight

As medical directors, Dr. Lusins and Dr. Talley set the standards for diagnosis, treatment planning, and quality of care that every patient receives across all STMHA providers at all three locations.

Evidence-Based Treatment

STMHA’s medical directors integrate psychiatric medication management with psychotherapy including CBT, DBT, EMDR, and CPT. Every treatment plan is individualized to each patient’s diagnosis, history, and goals, including advanced options like TMS therapy.

Patient-First Compassion

Both Dr. Lusins and Dr. Talley take the time to truly listen: explaining diagnoses clearly, involving patients in treatment decisions, and building the trust that effective long-term psychiatric care requires.
